  • leaves - evergreen, divided into 3 lobes, toothed along outer edge

Often confused with:

  • wood sorrel
  • wood anemone

Goldthread

  • gets its name from its threadlike and bright yellow rootstocks.

Uses / Ethnobotanical uses:

  • root highly astringent, chewed for canker sores
  • used a solution for gargling to help sore throats, reduce pain of teething
  • tea used for jaundice, induces vomiting
  • contains berberine, which has many properties, including anti-inflammatory, antibacterial effects as well as a mild sedative
