Day 5

Welcome page | Day 1 | Day 2 & 3 | Day 4

At this point in the project, the committee has agreed upon a plan of action to address the deer population problem at Greene Valley Forest Preserve. Each member has gone through the research and much discussion has occurred in each group. It is now your goal to concisely present your research and discussions to the city council and the mayor.

Day five involves working on your group's written proposal and presentation. Below are the guidelines for both.

Written Proposal

The committees final product for the written proposal should include each of the following:

The written proposal must be typed but may take on the format of your choice. This means that the final written proposal can be in the form of a research paper or something more creative such as a pamphlet or web page that could be used by the entire community.

Presentation

The city council and the mayor are already familiar with the background information, rationale and reasoning for the need of deer population control and the numbers to support the need for population control. This is due to the research that was conducted prior to the development of your committee. Therefore, your presentation should only include the areas relevant to your committees discussion and decisions. Below are the components of the proposal that should be included in your presentation:

The presentation should be approximately five minutes in length. Included in the presentation should be visual aids for the city council and mayor to follow along with. These visual aids should not simply be your written proposal. You may wish to include your groups pro and con worksheet for the strategy you have chosen. Visual aids may include any combinations of the following: posters, overheads, handouts, slides, videos, pictures, and PowerPoint slides.
